Ariana Grande Scores Second Streaming Songs No. 1 Debut With ‘7 Rings’

The song logs the second-largest streaming week for a woman.

Concurrent with her No. 1 launch atop the Billboard Hot 100, Ariana Grandedebuts at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Streaming Songs chart dated Feb. 2 with “7 Rings.”

The song, Grande’s third release from her upcoming album Thank U, Next, crowns the list with 85.3 million first-week U.S. streams in the week ending Jan. 24, according to Nielsen Music.

The sum is the largest since Grande’s own “Thank U, Next” scored 93.8 million, as reflected on the Dec. 15, 2018-dated chart following the release of its official video.

“Rings” gives Grande the 10th-biggest streaming week ever and the second-best sum for a woman, after “Next.” It narrowly tops Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do,” which racked up 84.5 million (Sept. 16, 2017).

Top Streaming Weeks by Women (U.S. Streams)
93.8 million, “Thank U, Next,” Ariana Grande (Dec. 15, 2018)
85.3 million, “7 Rings,” Ariana Grande (Feb. 2, 2019)
84.5 million, “Look What You Made Me Do,” Taylor Swift (Sept. 16, 2017)
63.4 million, “Thank U, Next,” Ariana Grande (Nov. 24, 2018)
61.6 million, “Hello,” Adele (Nov. 14, 2015)

Drake boasts the greatest streaming week by any artist: 116.1 million for “In My Feelings” (July 28, 2018).

Grande has now earned two No. 1s, both of which have debuted on top, on Streaming Songs. “Next” started atop the Nov. 17-dated chart and led for seven weeks; it currently ranks at No. 5 with 31 million domestic clicks.

Grande becomes just the second woman to score a pair of debuts atop Streaming Songs in the list’s six-year history, joining Swift, whose “Blank Space” and “Look” launched at No. 1 in 2014 and 2017, respectively. Though the success of “Rings” is attributable in part to its official video, released alongside the song’s premiere Jan. 18, it also performed well in its first week on on-demand audio streaming services. The track debuts atop the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart with 54.6 million of its streams attributed to such platforms, marking the sixth-best week in the chart’s history and the best by a woman, passing “Next” (43 million; Nov 24); Drake’s “God’s Plan” is the overall record holder (68 million; Feb. 3). “Rings” is Grande’s third On-Demand Songs No. 1, following “Next” and “Bang Bang,” the latter with Jessie J and Nicki Minaj, in 2014.
